Hi, my name is Karen Bice. I used to attend the Port Stephens obedience

club for a few years, with Bindi, staffy x. We graduated and had a few

mock trials and I was very pleased with the outcome and Bindis standard

of obedience. So thank you.

On Sunday the  30th August, I dropped by to take some photos of some of

the dogs. I have a back injury and can no longer do obedience, so have

started a new hobby with photography. I am only learning and because of

my love for dogs, thought that this would be the ideal place to start

taking photos.

I promised the lovely people whom dogs I had photographed that if any

came out decent enough, that I would email the photos to the club.

I have no names of the dogs, but I am sure their owners will recognize

them. :)

So please accept these photos, to show to the owners.

Thank you,

Karen Bice

Thanks Karen!! We LOVE the photo’s……….

   t

A heartfelt thank you to all those who took time out of busy schedules to help run our May trial.

Without you we could not hold trials at our grounds.

All your work is greatly appreciated – you are what makes this club a pleasure to belong to.

Roddy would like to Thank:

Kerrie for her help in organising the catalogues, sorting out the entries - it is, at times, a nightmare. Particularly those multiple entries. Also my thanks to the stewards who had to try to fit all the competitors into some sort of order in the rings.

Sue, Kerrie and Janice on doing such a fabulous job with the trophies, they were lovely. I know what hard work it is trying to choose within a budget and the ladies did a great job. Thank you.

Also a big 'Thank you' to Wine Selectors for supplying us with gifts for the judges and to Kerrie for having them so nicely presented.

I would also like to thank Lee & Bronwyn for their hard work in writing up all the qualifying certificates. It is unseen work, but it is a job that simply cannot be ignored, and these 2 ladies now have it down to a fine art and a great exhibition of teamwork.  Thank you both.

Thanks again to Lee for organising the accommodation for the judges and supplying them with maps on how to get here.  Good work Lee.

Of course my heartfelt thanks go to all those persons that helped make the trial a success.  I must not forget the members who helped out with donations for the Tombola prizes.

The list can go on & on, know only that without the assistance of each and every-one of you we would not be able to hold our trials.

Thank you.

Roddy Macdonald,

Trial Secretary, Chief Instructor and Club President. (Phew !!!)

Canteen / Lunch:

Jane would like to thank

Margaret & Des – being such great help in the catering department

Sue A – for helping in the kitchen and dining room

Denise – for running canteen

Nancy – for running canteen

Samantha - for making food (a yummy curry Saturday– must get the recipe, & Caesar salad – Sunday)

Emma - for making food (Minestrone soup to die for and fabulous garden Salad)

Sue B – for making food (lasagne was delicious) and helping in dining room

Leanne - for making food (Salad and scrummy pasta salad)

Lee – for getting food and making food (can I have the recipe for the cheese cake slice – very tangy)

Roddy – for making food (pea & ham soup) & getting the bread at an ungodly hour!!

Jean – for making food (slice)

Fran – for making food (vegetarian dish & gluten free fudge)

Bev  - making food (biscuits)

Barbeque – thanks to Robert, ?Michael (not sure if it is his name – owns the white shepard), Des, & John – hope you guys are available again in the future you were legends

When people pitch in and do bits it makes the job so much easier. There are many to feed over 2 days and we did a pretty good job of it again.

There were a few slices dropped in to sell at the canteen and for morning teas. Sorry if I left your name off the list.

Thanks to Bronwyn, Kerrie, Lee and Doris & Ralph who walked Caddy for me when I was busy in the dining room. Also thanks to all the helpers who came on Friday to clean up the club house (Margaret, Roddy, Sue A., Kerrie, Des, Brian, Sam) and afterwards on the Saturday & Sunday.

We received a lovely email from a Central coast entrant who praised us for a well organised trial (despite bombing on the day!!)

Thanks to Bob at Riverside Meats, 9 Williams St, Raymond Terrace for supplying the barbeque meats to the club at a very good price. The meats were quite tasty.

Vetting:

Sue Brown – also was a catering helper (how did you have time?!!)

Trial Managers / Gear

Steve – he is the only one that knows how early he got to the grounds to start setting up – you are wonderful Trial Manager.

Brian, Des, Robert, Jim, Zac, Louisa, Jess and the rest of the pack horses – you all did a wonderful job helping Steve get everything away.

And Bev – who is very naughty for dragging bins up hills, and Vicki who lifts things that are way too heavy.

Organising:

Steve – Trial Manager (setting up rings at crack of dawn and ensuring a tidy grounds) and dealing with the troops with a lot of patience.

Roddy – Trial Secretary / organizing everything!, and us! and coping with the little hiccups that happen (where would the club be without you)

Irena – stewards/trial boxes and the rest (Irena, we know that you love it deep down)

Jane – catering, see above

Sue & Kerrie & Janice – organizing ribbons and trophies for the day

Stewards:

Irena would like to thank all those who stewarded, a lot of these people give up there time every year and for some it was their first trial.

All did a marvelous job under, at times, some adverse conditions.

Without stewards the Judges would be doing it tough!!

MAY TRIAL 09

Our May trial is fast approaching, so we are

putting out the call for fifteen

stewaRds

This is a good opportunity for our club members who have not yet trialled to find out what it is all about.

The trial will be for two days: Saturday 2nd May and Sunday 3rd May.

There will be training for the stewards before the trial. Lunch and refreshment are provided.

It is a fun couple of days and well worth being involved as a lot can be learned and the dogs are fantastic.
